I've decided to revamp some of my previous work after I finished A Legion's Oath. Aside from the game, I tried to look at Wynne from a different perspective as much as possible to made her look more realistic and gave her a slightly more complex personality. If I have time in the near future I will find a way to add Alister and Leliana around the fire without stealing the senior mage's thunder, hopefully it won't take long and it could be done soon. My next renovation will be The Captain of the Guard, something about the bad quality with that piece really bothers me so I will at least try to bring it up to the same league with Mage of the Circle.
P.S The using of lighting style was inspired by Maya Anderson's The Assassin's Greeting. [link]
I agree with Savvid. The first one was great but this is BETTER! I love it so much. You're pretty much amazing. As far as being too young looking, you can definitely tell she's older and maybe not as old as Wynne was in the game... but she's also dressed a lot younger and her body looks really firm, which could contribute to the youthfulness of Wynne. I think if her face was any older looking, the body wouldn't fit at all. Older women have problems they can't always help and I think she would look a bit more frail. After all, Wynne may be traveling with the Warden now, but before she was pretty much camped out in the tower all the time. So no doubt she'd be healthy but maybe not that healthy... if you get my meaning... but all this is just speculative or what-not because the youthfulness of her face works with her body and is old enough to convince me this is Wynne at some point in her life. : ) Also, I LOVE her feet. That may sound weird, but so many people just drop the ball on the feet. I love her toes curling and everything. Looks awesome! ^_^
Wow! Thank you so much for the critique and the analytical perspective! I did a bit of research for the mage outfits in Dragon age and none of them looked right under that lighting except this one. Compared to the other ones this type of robe doesn't make her look old and at the same time stays elegant instead of slutty-ish. However, the main reason why I made her look younger was because of her side quest story; the elf she trained during her youth seemed to be at his late twenties so I would assume she was in her mid-twenties when the elf was still 10 - 13 years of age, and that gave me an opportunity to take advantage of that time gap and made her more alive with a bit playful spirit. Anyways, thanks for noticing the toes, I grew to love them more and more after the I finished them, it was a pretty surprised discovery for me as an artist because I've always hated toes and fingers!
Right, I agree with you on the outfit. It looks good, simple, and while young and somewhat revealing, it's elegant and definitely not slutty. I also imagined the side quest story she tells being the time frame but I didn't want to make assumptions, so I'm glad I got it right. Hahaha, it's because you're a great artist; you effectively communicated the right feeling. Definitely the right feeling. And yes, I've never been one for toes ( I loooove hands, but they're hard to draw, which you did beautifully ) but your attention to the feet is really great. I mean, we don't think about it, but the feet add as much character to a person as the hands do. Her toes curling like that with the other foot relaxed out does just as much to communicate her state of being as the rest of her body does.
